The Luminous Story

Some music is simply luminous. These American standards, many of them jazz, have been loved for so many years, they have taken on a glow all their own. Time does not dim the strength of this music - it has universal power - and I chose songs that retained their character and endured the test of time. The old tunes have power to overcome many obstacles, including time and memory. Music can evoke exacting memories for people, as they fondly remember the past while the notes glide through them.  Even people with memory debilitating diseases, who can no longer even remember their spouses or children, can often sing along with most of these, recalling every word. The flame doesn’t go out on a classic when it lives in the seat of our soul.

I hope you love every minute of it. I sure loved creating this collection of past and present, inspired by such greats (and my heroes) as Ella Fitzgerald, Mel Torme, Sarah Vaughn, Tony Bennett and Frank Sinatra.

It can be taken as music preservation, therapy, medicine, even as a stimulant - and like a fine glass of Virginia wine, each tune has a certain bouquet and flavor, based on many variables. Please drink deeply of these songs, and enjoy the harvest.

May you swing and sing and dance in joy while you listen, recalling the past and living the present. We are standing smack dab in the middle of a memory, right here and now. any of them jazz, have been loved for so many years, t
